What a Darling!

Year 6 have been learning about significant figures in history.  Last week we were learning about Grace Darling who is a renowned local hero.

This is Sameerah's wonderful poem:

Grace, Grace, she had lots of faith,
She saved some lives on that treacherous day.
Like a bullet shooting through fear,
To me she’s remembered as that lady so dear.

SS Forfarshire stuck against a black rock,
While poor Grace was frozen in shock.
She raised the alarm with her dad,
Surely this event was terribly bad!

Mrs Dawson’s children passed away,
Surely a portion of her heart crumbled away,
But Grace helped save others, of that we are sure,
And this act of bravery shall always endure.

Grace, Grace, she had lots of faith,
She saved some lives on that treacherous day.
Like a bullet shooting through fear,
To me she’s remembered as that lady so dear.

Caitlin has also been writing about the terrible events of that fateful night when the SS Forfarshire, carrying over 60 passengers smashed into the rocks, off the coast of Seahouses.
